Around The World

Step into the salt-crusted shoes of the mariners of old, sail out into the unknown, and discover a route around the world!
In the game Around The World, you control a fleet of ships in an attempt to navigate around a unique, procedurally generated world, filled with hand-crafted interactive stories.
🧭 Off the charts
As soon as your homeland disappears behind the horizon, you are on your own. To find the opposite coast, you will need every scrap of information you can get. The locals might be willing to sell you a map, or share some useful gossip.
💰 Expand your trade
A solitary ship is no match for the vast oceans. You will need to expand and upgrade your fleet in order to stand a chance. Explore to find trade routes, and plan carefully to maximize profits. Complete quests to obtain rare maps and items.
👥 All hands on deck
Recruit and train specialists to help you on your journey. Carpenters make repairs to your ships whenever they inevitably suffer damage, translators help you communicate and trade with foreign people, and musicians play a cheerful tune to keep the crew’s morale high.
🌊 Wild seas
Discover a vibrant, dynamic world, in which nature is both your best friend and your worst enemy. Birds and fish provide clues where to find land, while storms and icebergs threaten to destroy your fragile fleet.
🧜 The myths are real
Sirens, dragons, kraken… these aren’t just children’s stories, but threats to be reckoned with. Seek out mythical artifacts to help you, or turn to the gods for assistance… if they will listen.
☮️ Better than history
On Earth, exploration often meant gruesome exploitation and violence, whose effects can be felt even today. I do not pretend that these things did not happen. However, this game is not about any of that; it shows how things could have gone, if people had behaved more kindly towards each other. This aspect of the game may be fiction, but let’s strive together to make it a reality.
Current progress
I’m planning for an eventual release of this game on PC (Windows and Linux, maybe Mac), but I don’t have a firm release date in mind. As of February 2026, even an early access release of the game is still some time away, but you can follow my progress on the blog here.
